Three-Wheeled Car Launched Into Space. Almost.

By Great White Snark | February 23, 2007

The guys from BBC’s Top Gear converted a three-wheeled car, the Reliant Robin, into a mini-space shuttle and attached it to a two-phase rocket.

Then they launched the sonofabitch like a bottle rocket. A bottle rocket with eight tons of thrust behind it.

My jaw stayed dropped long enough to attract flies. Seriously, the video could only have been better if they had put a camera inside the cockpit so we could watch a grinning chimp in a space suit.

There are so many things to enjoy here. Even (especially?) the part where things don’t go as planned…
