Japanese superheroes wear no pants. And play the guitar. With poo.

Now, I don’t want to detract from Japan’s obvious mastery of mass-producing highly-reliable cars, but you’d think that a country that produces so much weird shit could put a little more flair into their automobiles. I mean, have you ever heard someone call a Toyota “sexy” and then not hit them over the head with a sock full of quarters? I thought not. Toyotas have the personality of a sober, damp Hungarian.
Which has me marvelling at the other wonderful, crazy developments to come from the land of the Rising Sun. There are entire Web sites dedicated to nutty Japanese gadgets, entertainment, personalities, and porn.
Anyway, that’s all just a long-winded setup for a couple of gems that come to us by way of Koji Matsumoto. Koji plays the guitar. In his underwear and a cape. And his band is comprised of a cartoon crab, a toilet, and a piece of poo. (Bathroom fixation, anyone?) And then a gorilla strums a giant hand like it’s a guitar.
Sure.
The best part is, Koji plays a wicked beat. Shaking Hands–trippy psychedelic shit that it is–is stuck in my head.
Koji was inspired to write these songs by the Captain Underpants character, which is the creation of a apparently-genuine dude-from-Ohio, Dav Pilkey. As far as I know, Dav is not Japanese. But, based on what I’ve seen above, he could pass for one. In fact, I’m calling the INS right now.

man, I can’t count the number of things this dood is ripping off (scuse me, “homaging”) – Captain Underpants, Mr. Hanky, Peewee’s playhouse, the simpsons channel ocho, the list is endless.

As long as we’re all agreed that he’s apeshit bonkers. A dirty pilferer, but apeshit bonkers, nonetheless.
