Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode Trailer Hits the Interwebs
By Great White Snark | May 3, 2007
Seth Green and Matt Senreich, the creators of Robot Chicken, know that references to 1980s pop culture icons + random, ironic (and slapstick) jokes = nirvana for the geeky 20- and 30-something-year old set.
Their model has culminated in a 30-minute special dedicated entirely to Star Wars, set to premiere on Adult Swim on the Cartoon Network on June 17. (I’ve already marked that day on my calendar with smiley faces and hearts drawn in pink highlighter.)
The most remarkable bit of this news is that LucasFilm–and George Herbert Walker Lucas himself–collaborated on the project. George will even voice his animated character in the special. “Remarkable” because we all know the Force is strong with his underdeveloped sense of humor. (Does anyone need reminding of Jar Jar Binks?)
My bet is that Lucas will enjoy his usual 25% (or more) of gross, and is warming up the “money” demographic for his impending Star Wars TV shows, which should debut sometime in the first quarter of this century.
The special’s preview trailer has just been released, and it hasn’t spread like a space worm through the intestines of the internets yet. Starwars.com has the original video, but I’ve posted a copy to YouTube for your convenient viewing pleasure. Pleasurably view at your nearest convenience, however, in case YouTube decides to take it down. ‘Cause, you know, often media companies hate, hate, hate free promotion for their products.
Funny as balls:

This is fantastic news. I can’t believe Georgie is acutally eating some humble pie to participate in this thing.
Is that the correct use of “humble pie?”
May 4th, 2007 at 2:48 pm
Why, yes it is, Nickolai.

Unless you meant, “A pie formerly made from the edible organs of a deer or hog.”
What I want to know is the origin of the phrase “Funny as balls.”

Would you prefer “Funny as hanging brain sack”?

No. Ew. Sorry. {Whimper.}

Is that where your brains are situated, GWS? I suppose that’s a battle that most males are waging…

No, Nickolai, that’s what we call a euphemism. Everyone knows my brains are situated comfortably in my ass, where they belong.
