What GWS means to say is, this movie ROCKED. The 3D got a little hokey at times, but overall it was a fantastic ride.

Karen, Paul: As you might recall, I’ve been bashing on this movie for being 100% CGI since the trailer premiered at Comic-Con back in July. Obviously it has its shortcomings, but the CGI did serve a specific purpose in some cases… for instance, Karen, no, Ray Winstone was not hot enough to play Beowulf, so they radically changed the look of his otherwise-pudgy body. I’m not defending it, I’m just saying they did things in the film that they couldn’t have otherwise done without the CGI.

Nima: Malkovich once again played himself in this movie, and was 100% unremarkable. Or, unremalkovich.

Also… the Fifth Element in 3D? HELL YEAH.

Cindi: I enjoyed looking at it. That’s about all I can remember. See if that tells you anything about the characterization and story. Still though, I stand by my suggestion to see it… just to see it.

Malkovich is in it? Ummm… I think I’ll pass.

On a side note, the movie I always thought would be ridiculously great as 3D was “The Fifth Element.” There are more than a couple scenes that seemed like they were shot with 3D in mind. Damn fine movie, otherwise.

I can’t help but wonder why, if they had Angelina Jolie on tap (for the voice I presume), they would do anything except have her acting in the movie. CGI is great and everything, but even I, a lover of men to my very core, adore watching her act. The woman is a work of art. You can’t improve on perfection. Why did they make Beowulf CGI in the first place? The guys involved weren’t hot enough? The filming would’ve been too expensive? You can’t do 3-D with real people? I admit, I’m frequently baffled by movies lately…I’m only 42 years old, surely I should still be able to understand movies! Oh, just an aside, I hate everything Tom Cruise is in, just as a matter of principle. Stupid Bastard.
