Great White Snark Features Update

By Great White Snark | April 22, 2008

Howdy, blog-readin’ people. The more astute among you probably noticed that there was no “This Week in Geek Entertainment” post this week.

Well, good catch. Too bad there’s no prize for astuteness other than a smug sense of self-congratulatory satisfaction. Enjoy it.

Based on several factors–including your feedback and my whims–I’ve banged out a semi-formal weekly agenda for this here blog.

  • Every Monday and Friday, you’ll get a “Top Five” list, or some other fun editorial content, like “Battle of the Redundant Geek Movies,” “Advice for…,” or “What Would So-and-so Twitter?” This is the content I most-enjoy producing (and that you apparently most-enjoy consuming), so I want to make sure I release at least two quality posts in this category per week. If I’ve got the time and inclination for more, you’ll get more. Otherwise, enjoy the quality over quantity and shut up about it. Thanks. Smooches.
  • Every Wednesday, I’ll release a “Geek Curiosity of the Week.” These posts will highlight cakes, tattoos, and other entertainingly-eccentric geeky manifestations or creations. I’d love to keep profiling cakes every Wednesday… but there are only so many amazing geeky cakes in the world, so I’m going to mix up the content a bit. (You’ll still see plenty of sweet-ass stuff–including baked goods–I promise.)
  • On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I’ll post periodic content like movie reviews and sneak previews, interviews, “Geek Steals,” and extra editorial content. If I don’t have any fresh content for a particular Tuesday or Thursday, that day will be an “off” day. (Hey, even God took a day of rest, ok? Right after he had Adam and Even invent the wheel to escape the dinosaurs. Or something. The Intelligent Design Cliff Notes are somewhat shoddy.)
  • Every weekend, I’ll post the Geek News Roundup. Lots of you seem to enjoy and appreciate it, and it feels good for me to be able to dump this ridiculous amount of superfluous news and information somewhere.
  • No more “This Week in Geek Entertainment.” That post takes me too damn long to put together every week. If you really want to stay on top of things, visit ReleaseGuide for movie releases, Ars Technica’s Opposable Thumbs blog for video game releases and picks, Yahoo! TV for weekly highlights, and Blog@Newsarama for weekly comic book releases and picks in the “Can’t Wait for Wednesdays” post.

Finally, consider following me on Twitter. I share a lot of great geek links on there, as well as my reactions to the geeky stuff I’m reading and watching. When I go to movie sneak previews, my initial reactions go on Twitter, first.

I’m looking forward to bringing you lots more all-original, brilliantly-crafted content! And I’m looking forward to your gratefully consuming it!

I think you should allocate at least one day a week for you to post your emo poetry, of which I am a stupendous fan.

Oh sure, until polls tell you to change AGAIN. Seriously, GWS, just post what you post — no need to share your internal calendar unless it somehow motivates you to not slack…

@Nathan: Hm, nothing’s really changed, except that my posts will arrive on a more regular and transparent basis.

Oh, and also I now have a suggestion box on my desk marked “Bag of Poop,” which is where I’ll promptly be placing your feedback. With my thanks.

Your insecurity is understandable GWS — we’ll let it pass this time. Your apology is accepted.
