MOVIES

- Guillermo del Toro indicated he’ll hold contests for fans who want to appear in The Hobbit.
- Screenwriter Carl Ellsworth has been hired to write the Red Dawn remake. Dan Bradley will direct.
- Robert Downey Jr. will star in Guy Ritchie’s adaptation of Sherlock Holmes. Marvel has made a deal with Jon Favreau to rejoin Downey Jr. as director of Iron Man 2.
- Check out the kick-ass first trailers for Max Payne, Quarantine, and Outlander, and the new Star Wars: The Clone Wars Webdoc, “The Clones are Coming“.
- The Weinstein Company has restored the original plot of Fanboys and has returned the film to its original director. It’ll hit screens later this year.
- Warner Bros. will adapt the cult comic book Elfquest.
- The Dark Knight will open on a record number of IMAX screens.
