Giveaway: Comedy Central’s TV Funhouse DVD!

By Great White Snark | July 29, 2008

This week I’ve got two copies of Comedy Central’s TV Funhouse to give away, courtesy of Paramount Home Entertainment.

Spiel, commence!

COMEDY CENTRAL’s TV Funhouse” centers around Doug, the cheerful host of the show, and “the Anipals,” a stable of puppet animals and live animals. The Anipals have their own personalities and neuroses including Xabu, the puppet dog who constantly chases its tail to no avail and Hojo, the puppet turtle who travels through toilets. Doug tries to present a themed show for children each week, but his foul-mouthed Anipal friends always seem to desert him, becoming involved in wild adventures and real-life situations, ranging from childbirth in the emergency room to road trips to Tijuana and Atlantic City.

Well, I was sold at “the puppet turtle who travels through toilets,” but if that doesn’t grab you, how about these red, delicious apples?

“COMEDY CENTRAL’s TV Funhouse” DVD is a two-disc set featuring all eight uncensored episodes and includes the following bonus materials: commentaries by creators Smigel and Stamatopoulos and host Doug Dale, appearances by Triumph the Insult Comic Dog on COMEDY CENTRAL, dirty outtakes, behind-the-scenes footage and video commentary with Anipals Chickie, Jason, Xabu and Dave.

That’s right, people, appearances from the brilliant, foul-mouthed little puppet bastard who put ridiculing Star Wars nerds into the annals of comedy history. Woot, I say.

Triumph the Insult Comic Dog

All you have to do to enter to win one of the two available DVDs is leave a comment on this post, indicating your favorite funny puppet animal.

Make sure you leave a valid e-mail address in the “Mail” field. I’ll select the two winners at random and announce them in an update to this post next Tuesday, August 5th.

UPDATE: Consider the winner… announced! Congratulations to Nixonlives.

I’m going to go with Heidi the Hippo from Peter Jackson’s Meet the Feebles. I for one find her killing spree at the end to be a knee-slapper!

Our local religious channel airs a kids show called “The Secret Place” where Miss Kristy goes and meets her puppet friends. It looks like it was filmed in the 1970’s. The best character is this fuzzy bear named BOBO…hands down best episode is when he finds a joint and Miss Kristy tells him she will get rid of it since it’s bad. Can I get a “yeah right!!!”? Very unintentionally funny!

I do love Triumph, but I’m more a fan of the ‘Greg The Bunny’ series. I’m one of the six people who has the DVD of the season on Fox. My favorite was Warren De Montague, the extremely sarcastic ape. Tardy (the developmentally-challenged turtle) would be a very close second.

I can’t really think of any other funny puppet animals, so I’d have to just go with Sifl and Olly and favorite puppets.

Also, greatwhite, you are a grundle. And I have the last word on that.

On TV Funhouse I loved the dog that chased his tail (he had a similar voice to Triumph).

But since everyone is picking things from outside of the show I’m going to have to go with Muzzy, the hairier version of Grimace that taught kids languages.

I guess Triumph is too obvious so I’ll go with snarky ol’ Oscar the Grouch.

I’ll go with Fozzie Bear. I love me some Fozzie Bear.

For animal puppet, I have to say the funniest is Animal from the muppet show…I think he was beat by a couple of people though and would have to go Statler and Waldorf (hope that is right)…anyway the balcony critics in the muppet show. Absolutely priceless!!!
