Giveaway: Double-Feature Action Cheesefest: Cyborg Soldier and Kill Switch DVDs!
By Great White Snark | October 13, 2008
Ah, the 1990s. Back when a Steven Seagal vehicle or a cyborg super-soldier flick could get a proper theater release.
Well, not any more, kiddies. It’s 2008. Times change. Now we’ve got Bush in the Oval Office, 90210 on the boob tube, and I’m not getting laid with any sort of regularity.
Ok, well… I guess some things don’t change. At all. Except that some people can now actually find Afghanistan on a map, and perfectly good mindless action movies like Cyborg Soldier and Kill Switch
go straight to DVD.
This week I’m giving you the treat of two movies that you’d stop to watch on TNT at 1am on a Saturday night, but you wouldn’t actually consider spending money on. (Would you? Wait… don’t answer that. Let’s not ruin what we have, ok?)
Think of Cyborg Soldier (trailer) as that movie D.A.R.Y.L., except Daryl has a problem with steroids and likes playing with guns. And Kill Switch (trailer)… well, Steven Seagal’s headlining that one, so you know what that’s about: broken arms, ponytails, and lots of husky mumbling. Hells to the yeah.
To sign up to win this double-feature DVD set of Kill Switch and Cyborg Soldier:
- If you haven’t already, get an e-mail subscription to Great White Snark. It won’t cost you nuthin’.
- Leave a comment on this post. In the “Mail (will not be published)” field, enter the same e-mail address of your subscription, so I know who you are.
- In the comment, name your favorite Steven Seagal movie. (Mine’s Above the Law. You’re welcome to your own opinion, but it just isn’t as good as my opinion.)
I’ll select the winners at random and announce them in an update to this post next Tuesday, October 21.
UPDATE: I judge you people severely for your lack of interest in this two-fer. Note that I have removed the requirement that you have a subscription to sign up for this contest… just leave a comment with your favorite Seagal movie.
WINNER UPDATE: Tracy J., brace your mailbox for double-strength DVD action cheese.
One entry per person. And remember, cheaters never prosper, because I’ve got your IP address, people: duplicate entries are dopey entries. Winners outside the forty-eight contiguous U.S. states pay shipping. Because this ain’t a money tree, it’s just a plain ol’ blog.

I know it’s cliche, and stupid, and has that annoying girl from Baywatch in it, but I just love Under Siege. It has those elements that make for great tension and action: a small space with our heros cut off from everything except their own ingenuity, limited time before the bad guys blow the shit out of everything, the main good guy masquerading as ordinary before turning completely bad-ass, a stripper, explosions, and Gary Busey dressed in terrible drag. Plus Tommy Lee Jones is just a cool bad guy, and shooting on a great big ship like that makes for great visuals.

I like Above the Law also.

Umm the only good seagal movie is executive decision. If you watch the first 20 minutes, then you know why.
Incidentally, I really don’t want to win this one.

Incidentally, I don’t really want you to win this one, either. Even though Executive Decision is a perfectly awesome answer.
Let’s hope we both get our wish.
