Giveaway: Kung Fu Panda Plus Secrets of the Furious Five DVD Two-Pack!

By Great White Snark | November 11, 2008

I can’t say enough good things about Kung Fu Panda.

Mostly because I am unskilled with the words and the talking of things and such.  (See?)

But it’s not for lack of merit on the part of this brilliant mashup of comedy, heart, martial arts action, and stunning CGI animation.

(And, no… I did not lift that last line from a blurb on the back of the DVD.  Sadly, I crafted that unimaginative sentence all by my lonesome.  Just me and my Generic Movie Endorser 2000.)

Anyway, if you haven’t already gathered… this week I’m giving away the Kung Fu Panda Two - Pack, which  includes Kung Fu Panda, plus the bonus straight-to-DVD companion flick, Secrets of the Furious Five.

To sign up to win a brand-new copy of Kung Fu Panda plus Secrets of the Furious Five on DVD:

  1. If you haven’t already, get an e-mail subscription to Great White Snark. It won’t cost you nuthin’.
  2. Leave a comment on this post. In the “Mail (will not be published)” field, enter the same e-mail address of your subscription, so I know who you are.
  3. In the comment, name your favorite or least-favorite Jack Black role.

I’ll select the winners at random and announce them in an update to this post next Tuesday, November 18.

UPDATE: Welcome to your new life as a winner, J Rob.

One entry per person. And remember, cheaters never prosper, because I’ve got your IP address, people: duplicate entries are dopey entries. Winners outside the forty-eight contiguous U.S. states pay shipping. Because this ain’t a money tree, it’s just a plain ol’ blog.

“No you’re not hardcore! Unless you live hardcore! And the legend of the rent was way hardcore! ” - Jack Black as Dewey Finn - as Ned Schneebly - in the School of Rock.

I’ll also remember him as JD in Saving Silverman

Least favorite would be in High Fidelity. Although, it may just be that the movie bored me.

    7. Wavatar Patrick D. Says:
      November 11th, 2008 at 7:36 am

Favorite Jack Black role would be ‘High Fidelity’. My least favorite was his role in ‘King Kong’. It was a weird fit and I couldn’t buy it.

    8. Wavatar Joe Says:
      November 11th, 2008 at 8:09 am

I would say my least favorite was in Nacho Libre. Wasn’t much impressed with that one.

    9. Wavatar Kelli Says:
      November 11th, 2008 at 8:12 am

High Fidelity was funny! So was Saving Silverman, I loved the stupid walki-talki “ccccc” conversation! (how do you spell that sound anyway?)

I am already subscribing via Bloglines, does that count?

Favorite Jack Black role - There are a LOOOOOT of JB movies I haven’t seen. Oddly enough I really like him in The Holiday. I also enjoyed him in Kong.

    11. Wavatar Josh Says:
      November 11th, 2008 at 8:22 am

Favorite Jack Black role would be his sublimely understated acting in The Cable Guy. Most people forget him from that movie, since it was before he was “fmaous” and also because he doesn’t really act like his typical crazy self, showing that the man actually has some acting chops. Although I also find it fun to spot him in Demolition Man whenever it’s on TV (he’s one of Denis Leary’s gang members)

    12. Wavatar Roslee Says:
      November 11th, 2008 at 8:51 am

I’ve always liked Jack Black in everything I’ve seen (and KNOWN it was him).

By far, I am impressed with his role as Po in KUNG FU PANDA. I cannot imagine anyone being able to make Po come to life as well as Jack Black did.

My least favorite role is in MARS ATTACKS!

    13. Wavatar J Rob Says:

      “School of Rock,” undoubtedly.

OK so there was a stupid ad on that was making noises while I was typing and it was annoying. So one of the first things I saw Jack Black in was I Still Know What You Did Last Summer; and I feel in love! This dude cracks me up!

My favorite is Shallow Hal. Don’t understand why, but I just like it.

    20. Wavatar Kathy Says:
      November 11th, 2008 at 10:27 am

Love Jack Black. Least favorite role would definitely be King Kong. Favorite….probably The Holiday.

    21. Wavatar V Says:
      November 11th, 2008 at 11:15 am

I usually can’t stand Jack Black but Tropic Thunder (and then Panda) redeemed him a little. His line as Jeff Portnoy left me laughing for a while : I’ll cradle the balls, stroke the shaft, work the pipes, and swallow the gravy.

oh man - how inappropriate and fantastic was that.

    22. Wavatar Judie Says:
      November 11th, 2008 at 11:15 am

My favorite Jack Black movie is “School of Rock” he’s a funny guy–Judie

    23. Wavatar Kaethe Says:
      November 11th, 2008 at 11:33 am

Jack Black is made of awesome, but my favorite performance has got to be as Carl Denham in King Kong.

    24. Wavatar Karen MW Says:
      November 11th, 2008 at 11:50 am

Has to be Tropic Thunder! I have not laughed so hard in a long time. I also love School of Rock and as cheezy as it is…Tenacious D: Pick of Destiny! I love the “D”!

    25. Wavatar Juan Carlo Says:
      November 11th, 2008 at 11:58 am

Can lightning strike twice? Me hopes so! Jack Black can be maddingly annoying, no doubt, but SCHOOL OF ROCK remains a modern comedy classic, both as a movie and as a performance. Least favorite? Believe it or not, every time I saw him in TROPIC THUNDER I wanted to knock his block off, he was as annoying as a lizard in your underpants. But I agree with V, that line had me crying in laughter. Heck it’s so good I’ll post it again: “I’ll cradle the balls, stroke the shaft, work the pipes, and swallow the gravy”. OH MY GOD!

I liked him in School of Rock. I agree with Heat Vision and Jack as an alt though. (and although I can’t remember the name of the short film, he played a ‘talking computer’ from the future…or space…or future space…or something. Long and short of it was he had a computer monitor for a helmet and he talked like a computer. It…was awesome)

Jack Black’s WORST role was as a geek mechanic in the Jackal who gets his arm blown off by Bruce Willis. What a waste…

Jack in School of Rock is the favorite and least is the misadvertised Pick of Destiny. It was a musical. I was shocked and unprepared. Musicals take the right mood. Shame on the advertisers.

Where’s the love for Nacho? That was awesome! Talk about teaching family values: Sometimes, you gotta fight for what you want. That and wear stretchy pants.

I guess if I had to pick a runner up it would be School of Rock… :)

My favorite Jack Black role has to be Shallow Hal. It was hilarious when he winds up dating this chick who is fat, but does not notice it because he was hypnotized by his friend to only see women as Hal wants them to be in his own point of view.
