Giveaway: Tropic Thunder - Unrated Director’s Cut DVD!

By Great White Snark | November 17, 2008

I give and I give and I give.  Then, when I’m done giving… I try to watch five minutes of Heroes and end up turning off the TV in disgust.

And then I give some more.  This week I’m giving away a copy of the brand new Tropic Thunder - Unrated Director’s Cut DVD, courtesy of the folks at Paramount Home Entertainment.

To sign up to win a copy of Tropic Thunder 2-Disc Unrated Director’s Cut on DVD:

  1. If you haven’t already, get an e-mail subscription to Great White Snark. It won’t cost you nuthin’.
  2. Leave a comment on this post. In the “Mail (will not be published)” field, enter the same e-mail address of your subscription, so I know who you are.
  3. In the comment, cast your vote for the worst parody movie of all time.

I’ll select the winners at random and announce them in an update to this post next Tuesday, November 25.

UPDATE: Barbara’s well-directed disdain (for Scary Movie) has gotten her far in life.  Well, not so much far as a little farther.  What with her brand new Tropic Thunder DVD and everything.

One entry per person. And remember, cheaters never prosper, because I’ve got your IP address, people: duplicate entries are dopey entries. Winners outside the forty-eight contiguous U.S. states pay shipping. Because this ain’t a money tree, it’s just a plain ol’ blog.

      Epic Movie

    2. Wavatar Ashlee Says:
      November 18th, 2008 at 12:33 am

Ugh, anything made by Jason Friedburg and Aaron Seltzer should be destroyed. Disaster Movie gets top prize for being released on the anniversary of Katrina.

    3. Wavatar Sikkdays Says:
      November 18th, 2008 at 2:05 am

The first thing that comes to mind is Hot Shots Part Deux. Seriously? How do you make a sequel to a movie that was parody of a film that has no sequel? Furthermore, have you watched Top Gun lately? What a horrible trend Hot Shots Part Deux started, I mean when is Scary Movie 18 coming out?

    4. Wavatar Tiina Says:
      November 18th, 2008 at 2:23 am

      Epic Movie. Ugh, I shudder.

    5. Wavatar Scott Says:
      November 18th, 2008 at 7:49 am

      Any of the Saw movies….

What, those weren’t parodies? Okay I’ll say That War of the Worlds parody that Tom Cruise was i… No?

Alright my vote goes to Saturday the 14th Strike Back. (Real parody, real bad.)

    6. Wavatar Josh Says:
      November 18th, 2008 at 8:07 am

I would have to agree on the Friedburg/Seltzer films, those things rape parody to no end. Although, to go against the fold, I would like to cast my vote for Airplane II, the sequel. It was so bad, it was almost a parody of the first movie, rehashing old jokes and an overly rediculous story, as much a fan as I am of Airplane, I just can not stant behind Airplane II, The Sequel.

    7. Wavatar Kelli Says:
      November 18th, 2008 at 8:13 am

I too wanted to go with Epic movie, but instead, I will say Date Movie. Which is sad, I really like Alyson Hannigan!

    8. Wavatar Ken Says:
      November 18th, 2008 at 8:19 am

It seems to me “Meet the Spartans” set the new low water mark

    9. Wavatar Geri Says:
      November 18th, 2008 at 8:42 am

I’ll second the “Disaster Movie” mention. Plus, it’s even ranked the worst movie on IMDB.

    10. Wavatar Amy Says:
      November 18th, 2008 at 8:43 am

      Superhero Movie gets my vote.

    11. Wavatar Winona Says:
      November 18th, 2008 at 8:54 am

Sorry, but I kinda have to say Naked Gun 33 1/3 - by that time the series was a little tired, but I guess ya just gotta finish the trilogy.

    12. Wavatar Loaf Says:
      November 18th, 2008 at 8:55 am

I tend to avoid all parody movies like the plague because, by definition, they’re ALL awful. Sooooooo, my vote will have to go with Airplane 2 because I actually saw that one. *shudder* You can’t unsee something once you’ve seen it.

    13. Wavatar Roslee Says:
      November 18th, 2008 at 8:55 am

It’s a tie between “Scary Movie” and “Epic Movie.” Come on folks, make a parody FUNNY. LAME doesn’t count…it’s just pathetic and a terrible waste of millions of dollars and hours you will never get back in your life.

      Roslee

    14. Wavatar Lana Says:

      ha.decent movie.

    15. Wavatar jadashay Says:
      November 18th, 2008 at 9:26 am

I honestly hate the “Scary Movie’ franchise. Boring boring crap.

    16. Wavatar Stephanie Says:
      November 18th, 2008 at 9:31 am

I have to go with Last Action Hero. Is he really a governor?

    17. Wavatar Molly Says:
      November 18th, 2008 at 9:38 am

Scary Movie. Maybe the rest of the franchise sucks as hard as the original - I don’t know, because I only bothered with the first one. Easily fits on the top ten worst movies I’ve ever seen. It just wasn’t funny.

    18. Wavatar brian Says:
      November 18th, 2008 at 9:47 am

I will vote for Epic Movie. I’m sure there are probably worse out there, but this is one I actually WATCHED.

The things we do for our kids. Blah. Thank goodness they haven’t heard of Disaster Movie. Yet.

    19. Wavatar Dwayne Says:
      November 18th, 2008 at 10:01 am

I would say that Meet the Spartans is the worst parody movie, if not worst movie period.

    20. Wavatar V Says:
      November 18th, 2008 at 10:01 am

Most of these films I just refused to watch - so I have no idea which one is the worst. I also did not watch Farce of the Penguins, but I have a feeling that gem should be included in here.

    21. Wavatar Tanya Says:
      November 18th, 2008 at 10:30 am

wow so many…”Meet The Spartans” I honestly wish I had never seen it…

    22. Wavatar Karen MW Says:
      November 18th, 2008 at 10:36 am

Got to be “Meet the Spartans”…they should give you a warning to bring a 6 pack of beer…that might make it midly more amusing instead of just sad and lame!

    23. Wavatar Steve Says:
      November 18th, 2008 at 10:41 am

      Robin Hood: Men In Tights

    24. Wavatar Jo Says:
      November 18th, 2008 at 10:54 am

I think Steve’s confused, he accidentally put an awesome parody instead of a horrible one.

I’m going to have to repeat the mention of Disaster Movie, which decided to follow truth in advertising rather than naming itself after the movies it was spoofing like the others in its franchise.

    25. Wavatar Mike Says:
      November 18th, 2008 at 11:18 am

Has anyone else seen “The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra”?

    26. Wavatar Chi Says:
      November 18th, 2008 at 11:24 am

Scary Movie is the worst one I’ve seen. I usually avoid parody movies because they are almost always bad! :)

    27. Wavatar GreedySkunk Says:
      November 18th, 2008 at 12:13 pm

Any of the Scary Movies after the first one. Although Chris Elliott’s “strong hand” gets mentioned quite a lot at Thanksgiving.

You didn’t ask for it, but the best parody movie I’ve seen is Murder By Death. A great 70’s movie send-up of noir and mystery tropes featuring the stars of the day like Peter Falk, Peter Sellers, Maggie Smith, and David Niven. Look for a young James Cromwell, an old Elsa Lanchester, and a creepy Truman Capote being, well, Truman Capote.

    28. Wavatar Barbara Baker Says:
      November 18th, 2008 at 12:16 pm

Scary movie has got to be the worst ever and I’m casting my vote with this movie (2, 3 and how ever many more they decide to make). I just think they are the lousiest movies ever!!!!!!!!!

    29. Wavatar Jinx Says:
      November 18th, 2008 at 1:08 pm

While Lost Skeleton of Cadavra was an awful and funny parody, my vote is for an obscure movie from the 80’s:

      Saturday the 14th

    31. Wavatar Cindi Says:
      November 18th, 2008 at 1:51 pm

Hi, Please enter me in your DVD drawing. My vote for the worst parody movie is “Date Movie!” Many thanks, Cindi

    32. Wavatar The Porkchop Says:
      November 18th, 2008 at 2:21 pm

Hands down an action movie called ‘Smoke Fire’. Please…put your hands down. This is the worst.

    33. Wavatar Jess Says:
      November 18th, 2008 at 2:50 pm

Date movie. Sucked and sucked more.

    34. Wavatar Moises Says:
      November 18th, 2008 at 3:33 pm

The worst parody movie I have ever seen has to be Hot Fuzz.

    35. Wavatar Tarianna Says:
      November 18th, 2008 at 3:42 pm

Scary Movie, in its time, was… okay.

Meet the Spartans, however, is awful, awful shit.

    36. Wavatar Menteroso Says:
      November 18th, 2008 at 3:56 pm

      Scary Movie 3.

    37. Wavatar AJ Says:
      November 18th, 2008 at 4:41 pm

      Meet the Spartans.

    38. Wavatar Tina Says:
      November 18th, 2008 at 8:40 pm

I’d have to agree with just about everyone and say any of the “insert-movie-genre-here” Movies, and one not mentioned, Scream If You Know What I Did Last Summer. I haven’t seen it, but I don’t think I need to to know that it is probably a stinking pile.

    39. Wavatar Chantelle Says:
      November 18th, 2008 at 10:46 pm

gonna have to go with disaster movie and then throw in a couple gone but not completely forgottens in Galaxy Quest and Leondard part 6…

    40. Wavatar Impsy Says:
      November 18th, 2008 at 11:43 pm

I didn’t find Scary Movie very funny at all, but I thought Galaxy Quest and Hot Shots part Deux were both hilarious, so maybe I’m crazy.

    41. Wavatar Liana Says:
      November 19th, 2008 at 1:13 am

I keep away from those movies, so I’m not sure which is the WORST. They’re all pretty bad, as they’re just playing off of successful movies and trying to ride the wave.

Parodies of scary movies still scare me, so I’ll say that the worst parody movie is probably something not in the genre, like Meet the Spartans.

    42. Wavatar Dr Nic Says:
      November 19th, 2008 at 4:07 am

Worst parody movie that I’ve seen - Dracula Dead and Loving it. I love Mel Brooks but he really missed the mark with this one. I’ve avoided the Scary Movie/Date Movie/Meet the Spartans flicks so I can’t really comment on them.

    43. Wavatar Hell's Kitten Says:

      Leonard Part 6. Nuff said.

I finally watched Tropic Thunder last night - I had no idea that Jim “Mad Money” Cramer was in it! How cool is that?

    46. Wavatar Valerie Says:

Date Movie. So bad I walked out!

    47. Wavatar Nicholas Boyd Says:
      November 20th, 2008 at 3:16 pm

Meet The Spartans for sure. When they start to “parody” viral videos, it cross the line.

    48. Wavatar Melissa Says:
      November 21st, 2008 at 1:27 pm

I haven’t watched many parody movies in a long time, because they generally suck. So, I’m going with an oldie that I remember disliking, Spy Hard.
