Giveaway: The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian DVD!

By Great White Snark | December 1, 2008

I can be pretty forgiving of an otherwise “meh” movie when it offers either (a) naked ladies or (b) epic CGI battles featuring sword-wielding centaurs.

(Although naked lady centaurs don’t do much for me.  For whatever reason.)

So, I managed to enjoy The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian in spite of its lackluster storytelling.  (And, no… there were no naked ladies, if that’s what you were wondering.  Perv.)

To sign up to win a copy of The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian on DVD courtesy of Disney Home Video:

  1. If you haven’t already, get an e-mail subscription to Great White Snark. It won’t cost you nuthin’.
  2. Leave a comment on this post. In the “Mail (will not be published)” field, enter the same e-mail address of your subscription, so I know who you are.
  3. In the comment, name your favorite talking animal from a movie.  (Imaginary animals like that giant, furry worm from The Neverending Story totally count.)

I’ll select the winners at random and announce them in an update to this post next Tuesday, December 9.

UPDATE: Ask Alyssa if you can watch her brand, spankin’ new copy of the Narnia DVD.  Do it.

One entry per person. And remember, cheaters never prosper, because I’ve got your IP address, people: duplicate entries are dopey entries. Winners outside the forty-eight contiguous U.S. states pay shipping. Because this ain’t a money tree, it’s just a plain ol’ blog.

Does Howard the Duck count? It doesn’t get any better than that.

Dom DeLuise as Jeremy the crow in “The Secret of NIMH” is my absolute favorite talking animal in a movie EVER.

It would have to be Brain Gremlin from Gremlins 2. The snooty attitude and sarcastic wit are perfect. :)

I’ll do you one better: I’ll name a favourite talking animal from the Narnia world/movie! I love Reepicheep the mouse. He’s so blustery and brave, despite being a small mouse.

I realize it’s totally dorky, but I always loved that little talking alien, Max from Flight of the Navigator!

Talking animals in books are so much better. Reepicheep or Mr. Beaver, or Trufflehunter the badger in the Narnia books are great. In the movies, not so much. For movies, Michael J. Fox as Chance in Homeward Bound made me weep.

The penguin from Fight Club. So cute and adorable and when he says ‘Slide’…well, it makes me want to just develop a split personality and go punch people.

Wow, favorite talking animal? Hm, Sean Hayes providing the voice of Mr. Tinkles in Cats and Dogs. Brilliant, evil.

It’s a toss up for me between Hammy from Over the Hedge and Morla the gigantic sneezing turtle from Neverending Story. If squeaking fuzzballs count, I’d totally throw my vote in for Tribbles too.

is everyone forgetting Michael J. Fox voicing Chance in Homeward Bound? AWESOME! if the Michael j. Fox can “travel” in a delorean, turn into a wolf, and get to hop on the Heather Locklear bandwangon, then he should definately be the winning answer to just about any question.

Scar from The Lion King – who doesn’t love a scary villain who happens to be a TALKING LION? (Voiced by Jeremy Irons, no less!)

    13. Wavatar Jadashay Says:

Kermit D. Frog. When he sings the Rainbow Connection it makes me all mushy on my insides.

The worm from Labyrinth! I love his accent and little scarf. Jim Henson + Brian Froud = Genius!

I really love Totoro, though he really groans more than he talks. Um… I’ve always wanted to ride Falcor. And I always thought it would be really fun if Bear from Bear in the Big Blue House lived with me. He looks so cuddly.

From Caspian I love Reepicheep! You can’t go wrong with an uppity knight of a mouse! I also am a big fan of Donkey from Shrek!

    17. Wavatar Mike Says:

Francis the talking mule movies were always my favorites.

    18. Wavatar Nathan D Says:

Not actually “talking” per se, but clearly communicating in an anthropomorphized way: The Gopher in Caddy Shack.

    19. Wavatar Victoria Says:
      December 2nd, 2008 at 2:39 pm

Does Peter Pevensie count? Because technically, humans are animals, and he definitely talks. Or does a Faun count? Because I also like Mr. Tumnus. But, if we’re going to go for an that’s not human-like, I’d have to say Mr. Beaver.

That’s a hard one! I’ll go with the penguins in Madagascar…gotta love evil birds.

Babe, from the movie of the same name.

      “That’ll do, pig. That’ll do.”

Man it’s a tough choice. I loved the evil Skeksis from The Dark Crystal but I don’t know if they would be considered an animal.
Aslan is so perfect, he’s definitely a top fav. I literally read all the Narnia books until they fell apart when I was younger & had to buy them all over again. I’m on my third set.

    23. Wavatar Katie Says:
      December 2nd, 2008 at 5:46 pm

      Dori from Finding Nemo.
She’s hilarious and wonderful and I’ve always wanted a talking fish.

    24. Wavatar Alyssa Says:
      December 2nd, 2008 at 7:05 pm

Fievel from An American Tail! He’s so cute and that was one of my favorite movies when I was a little.
But, I’m just curious, does Baxter from Anchorman count? The bears and Ron Burgundy understand him!

    25. Wavatar Robin Says:
      December 2nd, 2008 at 7:31 pm

I gotta go with Puss In Boots from the Shrek movies. “Pray for mercy from Puss… in boots.”

    26. Wavatar Moises Says:
      December 2nd, 2008 at 8:57 pm

My favorite talking animal has to be Baloo from my favorite book and movie, the Jungle Book.

    27. Wavatar Diana Says:
      December 3rd, 2008 at 7:44 am

Psh. Ludo from Labyrinth. Hands down!
      “Smmeeelll….baaaaaddddd!”
Does Widget from “Caravan of Courage” count? The little ewok? He kinda talks. If he counts, he wins over Ludo for me.

    28. Wavatar V Says:
      December 3rd, 2008 at 2:36 pm

Sorry I am still stuck on the “giant, furry worm from The Neverending Story,” are you referring to the luck dragon? I am going to go with Rikki-Tikki-Tavi for my pick today, he is fierce.

    29. Wavatar Alex Says:
      December 3rd, 2008 at 7:45 pm

      Donkey!!! From Shrek of course.
I can’t believe no one already picked him.

“and in the mornin’, I’m makin’ waffles!!…”

      Alex

      I like Shrek.

      The Hugga Bunch. Hands down.

    32. Wavatar AJ Says:

Michael J. Fox as Chance from Homeward Bound.

    33. Wavatar Syntha Says:

Miss Piggy, I’m assuming Muppets count.

    34. Wavatar Silvia Says:
      December 5th, 2008 at 12:49 pm

I’d have to say Chicken Little.

    35. Wavatar Laura E. Says:
      December 6th, 2008 at 12:42 pm

Pick a favorite talking animal in a movie *ever*? So difficult! I mean, just to start with, you have the brilliance of Kermit T. Frog and Sam the Eagle in “Muppet Treasure Island”. The cute simplicity of the Worm in “Labyrinth”. And from “Prince Caspian” itself… Reepicheep, who is made awesome because really, with Eddie Izzard as his voice, what else could he be? I think I’ll have to go with the delightful Pip in “Enchanted”, because it doesn’t get much better than his charades as he tries to tell the Prince about the poisoned apples.

    36. Wavatar Slithy Toves Says:
      December 7th, 2008 at 10:44 pm

That would easily be Marlon Brando in Apocalypse Now. But, if beached whales don’t count, I’m going to have to go with Animal from any of the Muppet movies. He didn’t so much talk, but his screams had passion…

    37. Wavatar Mary Says:
      December 8th, 2008 at 9:55 am

Donkey in Shrek! “…you definitely need some Tic Tacs or something ’cause your breath STINKS!”

Yes, Anchorman counts, Alyssa. Oh, yes… it does. You winner, you.
