Giveaway: I Love You, Man on DVD!

By Great White Snark | July 21, 2009

Get excited, people, because the I Love You, Man features an hour of deleted scenes of Paul Rudd and Jason Segel telling “You know how I know you’re gay?” jokes.

I Love You Man DVD

Ok, not really. But it does have a bunch of deleted scenes, outtakes, and a “gag reel,” which I assume reveals Rashida Jones’ technique for staying skinny enough to appear in movie-pictures.

Plus, Rudd and Segel are a pretty funny for a couple of non-Canadian Gentiles.

To sign up to win a copy I Love You, Man on DVD:

  1. If you haven’t already, get an e-mail subscription to Great White Snark. It won’t cost you nuthin’.
  2. Leave a comment on this post. In the “Mail (will not be published)” field, enter the same e-mail address of your subscription, so I know who you are.
  3. In the comment, name the worst “buddy comedy” movie you can think of, and indicate why it’s the worst. (You’re off to a strong start if you name any movie starring Chris Tucker.)

I’ll select the winner at random and announce them in an update to this post next Tuesday, July 28.

UPDATE: Congrats to Geraldine, who doesn’t love you, man, but she really, really likes you.

One entry per person. And remember, cheaters never prosper, because I’ve got your IP address, people: duplicate entries are dopey entries.  Winners outside the forty-eight contiguous U.S. states pay shipping. Because this ain’t a money tree, it’s just a plain ol’ blog.

I just woke up and it’s my birthday. Yep….going to work on my birthday. Just another day older. But I do hope I am chosen next week when I am a week older than 37.

Yuck, I hate the movie Showtime with Robert DeNiro and Eddie Murphy. They’ve both become unfunny caricatures of themselves, plus, it’s the worst of all buddy comedies– the buddy cop movie (Hot Fuzz, the exception of course).

Damn it, why did you have to suggest Chris Tucker when I was already going to say “Money Talks”. Reasons that movie sucked:
      Charlie Sheen hasn’t been good since Hot Shots Part Deux;
      Chris Tucker (who was only good in two things, Friday and The Fifth Element);
      Such a stupid premiss, executed poorly, and directed even worse. One of those movies where you go “why did the studio even think of this as being green-light-able?”;
      I was forced to see it in the theater on a day off from working at a summer camp, and I will never get those two hours back;
      Did I mention Chris Tucker?

Of course there are so many other bad buddy comedies, such as k-9 Cop, Loose Cannons, Another Stakeout…I could go on…

John Tucker must die, just because of the stupidity on the part of all the guys…the girls were stupid too but come on now, what group of guys really uses the terms “i’m not whipped,i’ll be scoring more baskets in no time” and thinks it’s the wittiest thing ever….please tell me the male world has better heroes to worship than douches like john tucker.

“The Man” starring Eugene Levy & Sam Jackson has got to be high in this list! Sam, what were you thinking?

Second Sight featuring the wonder team of John Larroquette and Bronson Pinchot. Bronson plays a psychic and Larroquette is a P.I. who uses him to help solve cases. The Second Sight Detective Agency. “Hello, you’ve reached the Second Sight *psychic* detective agency. We know who you are and what you want, so, at the sound of the beep, hang up.”

Yes. I bet they thought they had a surefire hit what with Larroquette’s Night Court audience and Bronson’s Perfect Strangers audience. Mm-hmm.

Dumb and Dumberer. Let’s face it I’m as big a sucker as anyone for a “dumb” comedy. But this completely craps on the acting Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels did in the original. Honestly the lack of acting could almost have been endearing if it weren’t for the fact that it was hilariously NOT funnny. In my book it just doesn’t get much worse than Dumb and Dumberer.

Dumb and Dumber…because I just don’t get why it’s funny. And I generally like Jim Carrey, just not that movie.

Wrong, all of you. The worst buddy movie is Undefeatable from 1993. The plot: Kristi is a street fighter/thug who grudgingly works with a police detective to help track down a serial killer named Stingray who murdered her sister.

This movie fails in every single way possible: a horrible script, bad acting, bad direction, bad editing, bad sound cues, horrible soundtrack, wayyyyy too many slow motion punches to the face, and somehow EVERYONE knows kickboxing.

Here’s one of the fight scenes from the movie:

Wild Hogs. Middle-aged men, who are ridiculous themselves, trying to regain their glory days. Add some “funny” scenes that made me groan. And a presumed gay police officer following them around (sort of) and fantasizing about some of the bromance? Or, uh, bum-mance? Yeah….

Even the cast was lame. Seriously, what the heck were they thinking?

    12. Wavatar Moises Says:
      July 21st, 2009 at 1:15 pm

I think that the worst movie was Incino man because it was stupid when Dave( Sean Austin) and Stoney Brown( Pauley Shore) find a frozen caveman in their backyard and teach him the life of being in california and make him one of the coolest guys in school. It was a retarded movie because the two buddies who discovered the cave man were fighting against each other trying to get money for him but then have a change of heart and trying to figure out how they can help him from being caught and used for research.

    13. Wavatar Silvia Says:
      July 21st, 2009 at 1:26 pm

One of the worst buddy movies that I have seen was the Bucket List starring Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson which was mostly about two buddies trying to finish off a list of things that they could never accomplish in their life and trying to complete them before they die. That was basically what the whole movie was about.

    14. Wavatar liz Says:
      July 21st, 2009 at 1:41 pm

I think that Shanghai Noon with Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson was one of the worst buddy movies because the movie was based on protecting and saving a chinese princess and fighting and making little comical jokes that were not as funny as they made seem it was.

      White Chicks.
The Good: 4 BET award nominations (and one win)
      The Bad: 5 Razzies nominations
The OK: 1 Teen Choice award nominations
People think this movie is terrible, funny, and/or terribly funny. I think it is a waste of 109 minutes.
I think it is one of the worst buddy movies ever.

    16. Wavatar Tina Says:
      July 21st, 2009 at 3:43 pm

I think the worst buddy movie has to be Taxi. All I need to say is, Jimmy Fallon.

    17. Wavatar Geraldine Says:
      July 21st, 2009 at 4:13 pm

I can’t even…I’m trying to brainstorm after reading Ron’s entry and clicking on his link and it’s impossible. I’m just gaping at YouTube like a slack-jawed yokel. I was going to say “Dude, Where’s My Car?” but at least that’s sort of campy awfulness rather than a sheer, unredeemable putrid mess.

    18. Wavatar aayjay Says:
      July 21st, 2009 at 4:33 pm

I agree with Tina. Taxi. Really. Jimmy Fallon and Queen Latifah? Who thought this was an acceptable idea?

I’ve subscribed and entered in the same email. I’d love to be entered for this though b/c it was a hilarious film and I want to keep watching it as much as I can.

As for a dumb buddy movie…I guess “Dude, where’s my car?” would count b/c that was seriously just a really random movie that doesn’t have quite the comedy that I’m usually a fan of.

Keeping in line with the Chris Tucker bashing (and thank god for that!) I gotta say Rush Hour in all of its incarnations. His voice alone is enough to inspire postal level carnage.

    23. Wavatar nickolai Says:
      July 22nd, 2009 at 3:12 pm

Thelma and Louise, and it’s not even close. This movie is actually not funny at all.

    24. Wavatar Alexandra Says:

I have to go with “Twins”. Because it is all I can think of. And because I really like both those actors but together in that preise, it just didn’t work for me.

    25. Wavatar Dwayne Says:
      July 23rd, 2009 at 12:34 pm

I don’t know if it counts as a “buddy movie,” but how about Chris Tucker’s “Kung Fu Choreography?” Sounds like it was probably begotten of the Rush Hour franchise. I wouldn’t be surprised if Jackie showed up. I’ve never seen it, nor would I admit to it if I had. I was just going for bonus points for a Chris Tucker reference. (Seems that was a popular idea.)

    26. Wavatar Rachel H Says:
      July 23rd, 2009 at 12:46 pm

      Stuck on You.

Awful because for some reason someone thought Greg Kinnear and Matt Damon would be awesome brothers.

Also awful because I actually kind of like it.

Also awful because it’s my 52 year old mother’s second favorite movie behind Dodgeball.

    27. Wavatar Bill Says:
      July 23rd, 2009 at 2:34 pm

Can a drama be a buddy movie? If so, Righteous Kill is the worst I’ve seen. Two actors past their prime, parodies of their former selves, playing a game of “who can stay relevant.” They both lost, by the way.

    28. Wavatar alyssa Says:
      July 23rd, 2009 at 4:24 pm

Does Bad Company count? Because pairing up Anthony Hopkins with Chris Rock just seems like an all around terrible decision. I wonder what ever made them think that was a good idea…

    29. Wavatar Matt Gamble Says:
      July 23rd, 2009 at 8:43 pm

The worst buddy comedy is easily Collision Course, starring Pat Morita and Jay Leno. Why? Because it is the template used for the Jackie Chan/Chris Tucker Rush Hour films.

    30. Wavatar Megan Says:
      July 24th, 2009 at 3:07 am

Shanghai Knights. It was even worse than the original and very similar. There was no character development and i spent the whole movie cringing at the poor attempts at humour.
Also, can Owen Wilson play more than one character?

    31. Wavatar Holly Says:
      July 24th, 2009 at 5:54 am

After some careful deliberation, I have decided that Double Team starring Dennis Rodman and Jean-Claude Van Damme is pretty much up there for worst buddy movie of all time. I’m not even sure I’d qualify it on a technical level, but come on, it has Dennis Rodman. That’s just terrible to begin with.

Though honestly, I think people are looking for obscurity here, so that might have coloured my decision a bit. =D

Hello! I am a subscriber to your email newsletter.
My vote goes to “Bad Company” as the worst movie with Rock, Hopkins and director, Schumacher!
The dialogue was awful and Chris Rock’s jokes
      were bad. Thanks, Cindi
