Shuffle Harder!: Comic-Com Zombie Walk 2010

By Great White Snark | July 26, 2010

On Saturday, July 24, I had the good fortune to cross paths with the annual Zombie Walk on the streets outside the convention center at San Deigo Comic-Con 2010.

A hell of a lot of zombies participated in the walk; it took about ten minutes for all of them to shuffle/stumble/stroll by me while I took video. The zombie costumes were much like the other Comic-Con costumes in that they ranged from the terrible and lazy to the spectacular and hilarious. (You haven’t lived ’til you’ve seen cosplaying zombie children staying in character.)

So, if you like the idea of spectating a zombie walk while listening to me offer constructive guidance to the “zombies” and also occasionally gleefully giggle like a schoolgirl of diminutive stature… then this is the video for you. You’ll probably want to watch the first minute or so, then skip around.

P.S. Sorry for the sudden cuts and changing aspect ratio of the video. Spielberg, I am not.

I was there! I think they should organize it into a real parade and block a stretch of the street. That way spectators can line the sidewalk and only those in costume would walk the street.

I’ve gotta say the zombie lobster was the best zombie.

      I need more iron.
      In my diet.
My diet, of course I meant in my diet.
      *ahem*

Thank you for taking footage; I’ll be including this on our site :)

Toni: The city will not allow us to block off streets during Comic-Con. The Gaslamp Quarter is already a traffic nightmare as it is and we don’t want to be the jerks that make it worse (hence zombies being instructed to obey traffic laws and stay on the sidewalk). As for any of our other walks throughout the year turning into a parade scenario, if anyone wants to donate money to ZombieWalk:SanDiego for the fees involved in doing so, we’re more than happy to put it into our permit fund.

Rachel: Yes, the zombie lobster was the best zombie and our staff are still grinning from ear to ear every time his picture shows up. If anyone knows his name, he needs to get into contact with us!

I wonder if anyone did the special infected zombies, or the alternative fast attack zombies. Just to mix it up.
