Gruesome Shine: Tim Burton’s “Superman Lives” Costume [Video]

Once upon a time, Tim Burton almost directed a Superman movie, but then the project fell apart. Only now can we fully grasp the enormity of the disaster we collectively avoided.

Tim Burton Superman Costume

Burton’s team designed a Superman costume covered with everything that trashy people and casinos have used to scream desperately for attention since the early 1970s, including chrome, neon, blinking lights,  and those little, flexible, illuminated plastic tubes that people used to twirl around at 1980s rock concerts.

Until now, we’ve only seen photos of this hot mess. But now, there’s video. Glittery, flashing video.

Via Topless Robot, who coincidentally sees everything as glittery and flashing after his nightly bottle of scotch.

Did Tim Burton think Superman was a BUG of somesort? The last bit made me think he was going for insect exoskeleton. I also wonder if his suit matched the Fortress of Now I am Emo Supermanitude.

I loved his Batman but… this right here is also why I fear the Nolan Superman.

Superman isn’t dirty on the outside. Just in his farm boy mind. God I hate superman…
