Or Is It Joker Queen?: The Queen Joker Cake [Geeky Cake]

Monday, August 9th, 2010

Credit Mila P. on Threadcakes for figuring out the just-right combination of colorfully-insane flavors (lemon cake, kiwi jelly, layers of chocolate and raspberry marmalade) to do justice to a cake–based on the “God Save the Villain” t-shirt–portraying The Joker as the mother-thumpin’ Queen of England.

If I understand the translation of Mila’s description from not-English correctly, she used [...]

Star Wars Boba Fett Cake [Geeky Cake]

Friday, August 6th, 2010

Nerdalicious reader Jason nd his wife made this Star Wars Boba Fett cake for a friend. It features a Boba Fett helmet made out of Rice Krispies treats and gum paste, and a (Rice Krispie-topped?) cake filled with black raspberry something-or-other.
So, I certainly appreciate the effort and the artistry, but the Sarlacc ended up looking like [...]

Stupefying: Reimagined Super Mario Bros. Cake [Geeky Cake]

Thursday, August 5th, 2010

Here’s the latest doozy of an entry over at Threadcakes: based on the “Historical Reconstitution” t-shirt, Jessica K. crafted Triple Chocolate Fudge cake, chocolate ganache, Rice Krispie treats, fondant details and a few supporting dowels into this incredible display of reimagined versions of Mario, Princess Peach, and Bowser Yoshi.

Check out the video below for a [...]

Because Why Not?: Yoda on a Unicorn Cake [Geeky Cake]

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

Director Zack Snyder (300, Watchmen, Sucker Punch) recently tweeted a picture of his daughter’s birthday cake from Violet’s Cakes, this cake depicting Yoda riding a unicorn. Because exactly.

Here’s how I think that went down:
Director Zack Snyder: “Here’s your cake, sweetheart!”
Director Zack Snyder’s Daughter: “But, Daddy! I just wanted a pretty unicorn cake! Why is Yoda on [...]

Now with Unironic International Flavor: Star Wars Wedding Cake [Geeky Cake]

Monday, August 2nd, 2010

So I like how this “Spanish” version of a Star Wars cake (found here by the Official Star Wars Blog) does indeed feature figures with the heavy brows and large noses typical of caricatures of Spaniards.

Does it count as racist if the cake artisan is actually a Spaniard? (I’m going with “yes,” but even more hilariously so.)
Either way, [...]

But He Seemed So Friendly: Rampaging Giant Robot Cake [Geeky Cake]

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

If you’ll notice, I’ve been posting mostly pleasing images on GWS today. Thanks to cake artisan Jennifer Flynn via Threadcakes with inspiration from the Firelight Cottage t-shirt, even this cake of a rampaging giant robot destroying someone’s summer cottage is terribly agreeable. (Violent arson seems almost charming, doesn’t it?)

Enjoy the mirth and adorbz while it lasts. I [...]
