There’s an annual event called the Can-struction. It’s a great charity in the form of a can sculpture stacking event where people compete and thousands of people are fed.

Sure. Sometimes thousands of destitute people are fed at the event. And then other times, thousands of cans of food go into sculptures of cartoon smiley-faces gorging themselves on pellets and frightened can-ghosts.

But I’m sure the starving people respect the importance of the art. Sometimes cans of food have a higher calling, you know?

Fair warning: as you might expect from a stop-motion animated short based on the mega-popular Call of Duty: Black Ops video game, this video–comprised completely of Lego figures and CGI effects–is gleefully violent and loud.

So if your sensibilities are insulted by senseless Lego minifig violence and teeth-rattling gunfire, see if you can just appreciate the project for its, you know… technical merits.

Wow. Trekkies continue to insist upon turning the nerd dial to 11.

In this case, we’ve got a German dude dressed up in a Klingon mask while performing a fully-formed, grammatical-correct Klingon rap to the tune of Eminem’s classic “Without Me.”

And because every German/Klingon rapper/rocker needs a stage name, he’s dubbed himself “Klenginem.”* (GET IT?)

So check out the video if you enjoy astounding feats of nerdiness and/or cringing. I’ll be over here, not being able to bury my face in my hands fast enough.

Praise the Lord!: Super Mario’s 25th Anniversary Cake [Geeky Cake]

This Super Mario cake showed up at the Nintendo World Store near Rockefeller Center in New York on Sunday to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. Nintendo’s lead game designer and Super Mario creator, Shigeru Miyamoto, cut the first slice. A momentous occasion.

But all this kid knows is that Flying Pastry Jesus has smiled down upon him.
