That’s No Moon(Pie)!: Star Wars Pie

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

Cathy at olds ninety-eight made this clever blueberry Star Wars pie in the course of “cooking lessons” for her little boy, Danny:
Danny’s most recent request was to bake some doodleberry pie. Obviously, we didn’t have any doodleberries handy. We went to Costco and bought blueberries instead.

Doodleberry?
Um, first on the docket for Danny’s cooking lessons: the [...]

It’s Alive(ish)!: Star Wars Yoda Cake [Geeky Cake]

Monday, August 30th, 2010

Instructables user tchitwood created this absolutely uncanny likeness of Yoda out of red velvet cake, Rice Krispie treats (for the ears) and fondant.
Oh, and by the by, she accomplished this on her first attempt at making a sculpted cake.

Which totally reminds me of the time I created cold fusion on my first try, using nothing [...]

So, I certainly appreciate the effort and the artistry, but the Sarlacc ended up looking like [...]

Tauntaun Tastes Good!: Bloody Wampa Cake [Geeky Cake]

Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010

Ok, so the depiction of the guts spilling out of the last tauntaun cake might have been truer to the source material, but you’ve got to give this cake capturing the Wampa cave scene from The Empire Strikes Back some credit for enthusiasm.
Messily-bloody enthusiasm. Which is my third-favorite kind.

The Barefoot Kitchen Witch crafted the chocolate-with-strawberry-jam Wampa cake [...]

Random, Much?: Wrigley Field Flyover X-Wing Cake [Geeky Cake]

Monday, January 4th, 2010

Behold this bold (and, yes: detailed) piece of groom’s cake randomness from Mark of Piece of Cake. In case there’s any confusion, that is–indeed–an X-Wing fighter flying over a Wrigley Field cake.

Mark calls it a “Wrigley Field Star Wars cake,” but I call it a Wrigley Field cake with aberrant Star-Wars-shaped [...]
