Random, Much?: Wrigley Field Flyover X-Wing Cake [Geeky Cake]

Monday, January 4th, 2010

Behold this bold (and, yes: detailed) piece of groom’s cake randomness from Mark of Piece of Cake. In case there’s any confusion, that is–indeed–an X-Wing fighter flying over a Wrigley Field cake.

Mark calls it a “Wrigley Field Star Wars cake,” but I call it a Wrigley Field cake with aberrant Star-Wars-shaped [...]

Picture-Perfect: Star Wars AT-AT Cake [Geeky Cake]

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

Are you sick of awesome AT-AT cakes, yet? There’s certainly been no shortage of them here on GWS. There was the AT-AT groom’s cake made as an over-the-top gift. The AT-AT cake with the snowspeeder. And, you know… the other one.
That’s practically a glut of fantastic AT-AT cakes. And I don’t want you jaded. I [...]

It was my brother-in-law’s cake, and I know it was a dulce de leche cake inside (which was AWESOME) with fondant and modeling chocolate [...]

Jen’s Party Cakes apparently has a long-ish history of creating cartoonishly-deformed cakes of Star Wars characters. Like Darth Vader. Or a Stormtrooper.
But this Emperor Palpatine cake says “puppet” more than “cartoon” to me. Specifically, it reminds me of Junior Gorg from Fraggle Rock. (Enjoy that flashback. You’re welcome.)

May the Force Be with Nom: Star Wars Cupcakes

Friday, December 11th, 2009

Liz M. of Artisan Cake Company in Keizer, Oregon, sent me the deets on these delightful Star Wars cupcakes she made for some kid who definitely didn’t share these with me. ‘Cause I would have remembered that.

From Liz:
What really warms my heart is that these were for a little boys birthday. The force is still [...]

Glowsticky: Star Wars Yoda Cake [Geeky Cake]

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

Thanks to longtime GWS pal Debbie Goard of San Francisco’s Debbie Does Cakes, Yoda cake technology has taken quantum* leaps forward.
Straws, wooden dowels, or uncooked spaghetti are usually favored in confectionery Jedi lightsabers. Instead, Debbie opted for a glowstick to adorn this 16″ tall Star Wars cake.

Finally, a Yoda cake [...]
